Physical Planroom: The plans are sent to us from architects, engineers, school districts, cities, counties, military bases and many other sources. Plans are available to members on a first come, first served basis, for estimating during office hours and on a reserved basis for overnight and weekends. If plans are needed for a job that we do not have, every effort is made to obtain them for the member.
Humboldt Online Planroom Service (HOPS). With HOPS, subscribers are able to view Plans and Specifications, Project Listings, Addenda, Pre-bid Conferences,Project Details, Bidding Information, Planholder Lists, Bid Results and more, all from the convenience of their own computer via the world wide web. Through HOPS subscribers can pay an annual subscription fee and view the projects available to bid at another planroom. Contact HBE staff and request information about "Crossover Subscriptions".
Private Online Planroom: It's a pain to send blueprint copies to subcontractors, asking them to give you a bid. and it's expensive. Now you can use our Private Online Planroom to invite contractors to bid your project. We'll help you put your blueprints in your own private, secure, password-protected Online Planroom - and turn the keys over to you. Invite subcontractors to view, print and/or do online takeoff. See who has looked at the plan and who hasn't. How to get started? It's easy. Just contact the Exchange staff for details!
Weekly Bulletin: Published weekly to provide the members with up-to-date information on projects bidding, proposed projects, low bidders, building permits, legal notices, construction news and trends affecting the construction industry. A Non-Member version of this publication is available for viewing on this Website.
Contractor Referrals: The Exchange advertises to promote the use of licensed contractors and provides it's Contractor's Referral Guide as a means of providing this service. Published annually, the Contractor's Referral Guide lists all HBE members by license classification, or work specialty, materials supplied or services offered. Copies of this publication are distributed to public agencies (purchasing offices, etc.), architects, engineers, industry related businesses, and consumers seeking qualified licensed contractors, suppliers, and professional services. You can contact our staff and request a copy of this valuable book or you may view our current list of licensed contractors online!
Reference Library: Reference material relating to construction is available for members review at the Exchange Office including, but not limited to, Sweet's Catalogs, safety videos, Code books and more.
Forms and Books: A large selection of legal and construction industry forms. HBE Members enjoy a 50% discount off the cost of all forms & books!
Plan Copy Service: Full-size plan copies from size 18"x 24" up to 30"x 42", can be made for you by our staff for a small fee, either on a while-u-wait or next day basis. Members can also order plan copies through the in advance of your arrival at our office.
Facility Rental: Our class room can be made available for seminars, meetings, etc. for small-size groups, on a reserved basis. Call 707/442-3708 to check availability.
Insurance Services: Group medical, dental, life, long-term disability and workers compensation insurance programs are available to members.
Scholarships: Scholarships are funded by member contributions and fund raisers, and are awarded to College of the Redwoods Construction Technology and Architectural/Drafting students. The Scholarship Committee manages the fund and arranges the fund raising functions.
Seminars and Workshops: Watch for upcoming Educational Seminars and programs, along with upcoming social events on the calendar section of this Website or in the Weekly Bulletin.
Legislative Action: To protect your interests locally, in Sacramento, and in Washington. The one thing that small and medium contractors can do to stem the tide of unwise and unforgivable legislation is to join their local Exchange. In unity there is strength. How can your legislators know how you feel, if you don't tell them?
Social Functions: Annual functions including Scholarship Benefit Golf Tournament in August, Membership Meeting which includes the installation of newly elected and returning Directors, and presentation of the "Construction Person of the Year" award usually held in May, Ball Game and Christmas Dinner.
