Scholarship Opportunities

The Humboldt Builders’ Exchange Community Fund (HBECF), is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to encouraging our community’s youth to succeed in the construction and design industries.

High School Students
We are pleased to offer Humboldt County graduating high school seniors annual scholarships to assist them with continuing their education in the construction industry. The scholarship will be awarded to qualified student applicants and weighted heavily on their academic record. Serious consideration will be given to those applicants who have demonstrated a committment to education through their academic performance during their high school years, as well as their current financial needs and community service. Applications are available in mid February and due mid April each year.  

College of the Redwoods Construction Technology Students
The Humboldt Builders’ Exchange Community Fund also awards annual scholarships of $800 to qualified students enrolled in the 2 year Construction Technology Program at College of the Redwoods. Scholarship funds will be distributed to the selected students who are continuously enrolled in the CR Construction Technology Program as follows: January – $350.00; August – $300.00; and second January – $150.00. Students must be enrolled in the Construction Technology Program at College of the Redwoods to apply for a scholarship, and they must continue their education in the Construction Technology Program to receive this scholarship. Applications are available in early October, and due by October 31.

College of the Redwoods Architectural/Drafting Technology Students
We award annual scholarships of $600 to qualified students enrolled in the 2 year Drafting Technology Program with a major in Architectural Drafting at College of the Redwoods. Scholarship funds will be paid at the beginning of the semester in January, to the selected students who are continuously enrolled in the CR Architectural Drafting Technology Program, at the CR Scholarship Office. Students must be enrolled in the Drafting Technology Program with a major in Architectural Drafting at College of the Redwoods to apply for a scholarship, and they must continue their education in the Architectural Technology Program to receive this scholarship. Applications are available in early October, and due by October 31.
